    Hi David,
Your recipes look great! I have the shredded beef taco meat boiling as I type this! I just wanted to comment on your stroganoff recipe. Did you know it is originally from Russia? And what nobody seems to know is that dill is that magic ingredient that gives it its unique flavor! Try serving it with diced dill pickles or just add some dill to thesauce. Let me know what you think!
    Keep up the good work!

      Hi Nanette,

Yes, I did know it was a Russian dish but not at first.

I originally tried Beef Stroganoff in a French restaurant in Vancouver Canada but saw a cooking show a while back that explained the origin of where it came from. They also had a side dish made with purple cabbage that looked interesting and they did mention something about serving it with pickles, however, the dill you mention I did not know about. Thanks for the info 🙂

The next time I make it I will try it with dill, that does sound like it will add another dimension of flavor that sounds wonderful!

Thanks for commenting and Happy Cooking!

      David

Will the dish taste the same if I leave out the wine?

      Hi Tammy,

The wine adds a rich layer of flavor that really brings out the true stroganoff taste. You can leave it out and it will still taste very good. It just wont have that depth of flavor given by the wine. Hope that helps and let me know what you think 🙂

      Hi Karen,

The first time a had a really good stroganoff was when I was about 15. We took a trip to Vancouver, British Columbia and stopped at a family owned French restaurant where I ordered it and it was delicious! I’ve tried to recreate it with this recipe and it’s very close. And, you’re right it is a very satisfying meal in the colder months of the year. Enjoy!
